The Metagenes Alumni Association’s current governing documents were adopted in February 2001 with the title “Provisional Bylaws.” Returning to that unfinished work, the association’s board has drafted new bylaws that are simpler and more regular. These new proposed bylaws for the Metagenes Alumni Association are submitted for ratification by a general meeting of the association membership to be held in February 2018.
Congratulations to Lauren Hughes, this year’s Kim Clark Scholar. Metagenes Alumni Association president Phil Buckberg presented the $250 scholarship to Lauren Saturday afternoon following the initiation of 5 new members.

We are saddened to inform you that that Jane Koehler passed away on June 7 due to complications with her sinus surgery. She died peacefully with her twin Julie at her side. For those of you who knew her well, the world is a poorer place without her.
A memorial service will be held at Bucktrout Funeral Home in Williamsburg, VA on Saturday, June 16th at 2 pm.
An Alpha Rho Chi scholarship fund is being created in Kim Clark’s memory. The scholarship will benefit Metagenes actives. We feel that this tribute to a great brother will help Kim continue his work on behalf of the active chapter in perpetuity while letting future Metagenes brothers know how important Kim was to all of us.
We have established a steering committee, and if you are interested in helping in any way, please contact Michele LeTourneur at email@example.com.
In the meantime, no donation in Kim’s name is too small, whether that be $25, $100, $250 or whatever amount you feel is appropriate. Please see the following details:
Checks made out to: Alpha Rho Chi Foundation
In the memo line, please add “Kim Clark Fund”
Please send checks to Michele’s attention below. Do NOT make the checks out to her or to the Metagenes Alumni Association.
Mail checks to:

Checks are being sent to Michele so she can collect them and send to the Foundation to set up the fund. Once all checks are received, she will forward them on to the APX Foundation and the fund will be officially started. The Foundation will acknowledge all donations as tax-deductible. Any follow up checks can be sent to the Foundation directly once we have additional fund information.

Our brother, Kim Steven Clark, has passed away from complications caused by Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. He was 52. After struggling for over two years with the disease, he passed away peacefully this morning at Roanoke Memorial Hospital near his home in southwest Virginia. His beloved wife Bonnie was by his side to the end. In addition to his wife he is survived by a teenage daughter, Sarah. All his brothers in Alpha Rho Chi share in his loss.
For those of you that knew him personally, you know that his love of Alpha Rho Chi was exceeded only by his love for Bonnie and Sarah. His contributions to our chapter and fraternity are too many to name here, but suffice to say, neither would be what they are today without him. He has been the glue that binds us together for many years, and he will be sorely missed.
Please contact Rick Jenkins directly with any questions you may have.
Send a email if you are interested in ride share or hotel matching.
He can be reached at email@example.com or by phone at (703) 901 5003.
Holiday Inn Roanoke-Tanglewood is near the funeral home and convenient to I-581.
Please join us for the annual summer picnic at Michele LeTourneur’s house, just outside of Washington D.C. We’ll be grilling from noon on, so bring your favorite summer side dish. All brothers and their families are welcome. Just be sure to RSVP with Michele at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Following lunch the Alumni Association will be holding its annual meeting. If there’s anything you’d like to discuss, please let Brian know, so he can add it to the agenda.
