Pledgebook Covers

The tradition of pledge book covers is as old as the Metagenes Chapter. Each class of prospective members has produced a cover or container design to protect their copies of The Archi Pledge. Although the designs have ranged in materials from chipboard to aluminum to plexiglass to cloth or in size from over a 12-in square to more recent compact designs, each has represented a generation of brothers of the fraternity.

Here’s a gallery of pledge book designs. If you don’t see yours, send us a photo!

Thanks to Kent McCullough for many of these scans.

Fortieth Anniversary Weekend

Metagenes 40th Anniversary visits 105 Lucas Drive

Wow! I can’t wipe the smile off my face, nor remove the lump from my throat! What an emotional yet gratifying weekend. It was great to see all the brothers who attended,… from the Charter Class to the Gamma Eta Class,… you’re all First Class to me! I had a great time, and can’t wait until our next reunion! It won’t be another 40 years,… promise.

40th Anniversary Celebration

I hope that by now you have received your invitation for the Metagenes 40th
Anniversary Celebration. Please e-mail me at btearle@gmail.com if you have
not.

As you are making plans to attend, you’ll want to arrange for your lodging as
soon as possible. We have blocked a limited number of rooms at the Courtyard
Marriott on South Main Street in Blacksburg. Rooms are $109 per night. As
stated in our informational letter, you need to reserve these rooms by calling
the local hotel at 540-552-5222, and ask for the “Alpha Rho Chi” rate.

Of course, there are several other lodging options in town. A search this
morning turned up the Blacksburg Days Inn, which is also on South Main St.,
within a mile or so of the Courtyard and Bull & Bones Brewhaus and Grill. The
online rate was about $60 per night, but is subject to change. The Days Inn is
located at 3503 Holiday Lane, Blacksburg, VA 24060 Phone: 540-951-1330. The
Holiday Inn on Prices Fork Road, which is much closer to campus (formerly the
Marriott), is also an option. The online rate is closer to $100 per night.

We look forward to seeing you in April for the celebration of this milestone
anniversary.

-Brian

the meta-historical project

Kent McCullough and Michele LeTourneur are assembling artifacts and memories from past generations.

If you have any items (photo, poster, graphic, newsletter, pledge books, etc) they would love to get it to use it for the MetaHistorical Project.

The intent is to create a historical graphic database by scanning or photographing the image and storing it for future generations.
It’s an ambitious undertaking and can use your help by sending any item you have; the item will be returned if requested.

Please send any item to:

Michele LeTourneur
Please let her know if you want it returned.
